Congratulations to Squirrel for winning last night’s draft! We had a great turnout with some new faces, but we hope to see more of you coming down to draft with us.

Today, in the absence of our cube, we’re running… something constructed. It may be EDH, it might be standard or modern, it’ll be up to you guys! Five o’clock as usual, come prepared to play some Magic.

Monday night D&D continues apace. Last week our heroes defended the citizens of Augustopolis from salt zombies! If you want in on the action, we’re still level one, so come down and roll up a character. $3 a session.

Encounters started last week with our heroes investigating the disappearance of the Lady’s son, and a nearby Elf Lord’s daughter, and next week we follow them to the Crystal Cave, where wishes can be made, and where bandits are thought to reside. Join us to save the lovely couple from the terrors within!

… but not this week. The store will be closed from Tuesday evening to Friday morning, so Encounters will resume on November 30th. As always, free of charge.

This Friday we’re running a standard constructed at 7 pm! Come down, compete with your best type-2 deck, and vie for our last promotional Go for the Throats. It’s $5, and pretty please, won’t you come early so we can start on time?

In the store this week we’ve got Graveborn decks! We managed to get our full allocation, but they’re going fast, so pick one up while they’re here.

Also in the store is Pandemic and it’s expansion, On the Brink!

And finally, Games Workshop has been kind enough to send us a catalog, so we can acquire all of you miniatures needs.

Happy gaming,

~Sharon

Today there’s Go Play PDX! hosted by the delightful Joel Shempert here starting at 2 pm and 6 pm with a break at 5 for dinner.

Hopefully Monday night D&D will be back in full swing; we had a couple of cancellations because our DM was sick, but I haven’t heard of any problems so hopefully, all players to Augustopolis! We’re still level one, so now is a great chance to jump in and play some 4th Edition.

We have a DM for D&D Encounters now! Aaron has volunteered to escort you guys Beyond the Crystal Cave and guide you through the realms of Feywild. Encounters is still free, and still awesome.

Youth Magic League has one more session this Thursday, and then we’re done for the winter.

Board Games with Bryce this week features Dominion, the deck-building game of money, land, and power. We will be taking pre-orders for the Dominion: Hinterlands expansion at 10% off, so if you like the game, now’s the time to stock up!

Next week for FNM we’re running an M12 draft, and after that, on the 25th, there’s a $5 standard constructed.

Also, we’ll be closing early on November 22nd and opening again on Friday, so mark your calendars! And for Christmas, we’re closing at 5 pm on the 24th and opening again on the 26th.

Happy gaming, guys.

First and foremost, tonight is our 1-year anniversary party! Starting at 6 pm (or, you know, whenever people show up) we’re putting out some games and turning up the music, so come down, hang out, and have a good time!

We’re starting to run formats other than booster draft for FNM, right now we’ve got a standard constructed on November 25th and every last-Friday after that. If you’ve got a format you’d like us to run, let us know! Personally I’d like to see a good EDH/Commander league going on…

Saturday drafts are still going, and the drafting material is completely up to the people who come. By popular consensus so far we’ve drafted Innistrad, Alara block, Scars, Mirrodin/Darksteel, and we’ve had a blast with each and every one! Saturdays are a lot more casual, and they’re always a great time.

In the Monday night D&D 4e game, our heroes successfully stopped Imix from entering (and destroying) the world, and now they’re Roman citizens in a steampunk world where the empire never fell. Starts at 7 pm every week, the players are currently 1st level, so hop in at the beginning and witness the epic story as it unfolds! Still $3 a game, still worth every penny.

Youth Magic League on Thursdays is wrapping up after a successful run; there’s 3 more sessions and then we’re done for the season.

Board Games with Bryce is firmly back to Thursday evenings. This week we’re running Smallworld and Smallworld Underground. Come down, play the game, and get 10% off Smallworld and any of its expansions.

Also, mark your calendars: We’ll be closing early on Tuesday, November 22nd, and opening again on Friday, Nevember 25th. Also, we’re closing at 5 pm on Christmas Eve, and we’ll stay closed on Christmas, but Monday we’ll be back in business!

Happy gaming, guys.

Today and tomorrow we’re running prerelease tournaments starting at four pm! Sealeds first, then drafts for as long as we can.

Posted in Uncategorized Tagged , , , , ,

Congratulations to Zach the Destroyed for taking over 1900 points of damage in a single turn! It has been requested that I not announce the draft winner this week, only that Zach wasn’t him.

One week left to get your $90 pre-orders for Innistrad boxes! After September 16th, we’re closing pre-orders.

Also, today at four we’re running a Mini Masters tournament for Magic Celebration. It’s a totally free M12 tournament to showcase the new format. And if that’s not your thing, we’re also running a draft at five and the late draft at nine-ish!

Tomorrow, September 11th, is Go Play PDX Day! On the second Sunday of every month, Joel Shempert comes by to run storytelling and role-playing games from small companies you may not have heard of, and are totally worth playing!

Board Games with Bryce and Youth Magic League are switching days! From now on, BGwB is Tuesday nights at six, and YML is Thursdays at three-thirty. Also, Youth Magic League starts this week!

Congratulations ZaCH (who has asked that we call him “the Destroyer.” Can we get someone to knock this guy down a peg?) for winning his third FNM draft in a row!

We are taking $90 preorders for Innistrad boxes until September 16th, so get ‘em while you can!

Also we’re running the pre-release on the 24th and 25th sealeds boths days for those of you that want a peek at the sweet new cards.

And finally Magic Celebration is on Saturday, September 10th, and we’ll be running the new Wizard’s format: Mini Masters! And if you’re not interested in the new format, but want to play anyway, we’ll also be running our usual Saturday late-drafts starting at 5 pm.

In a week and a little bit is the next Go Play PDX Day, run by the delightful Joel Shempert, and here’s what he’s got to say about it:

“Join the Go Play PDX story gaming crew at Fiction Addiction the second Sunday of every month, to play unique small press roleplaying games that explore topics and genres you’ve never imagined! Friendly to new roleplayers as well as seasoned gamers; these games empower us to tell OUR story, together. Show up and we’ll see that you find a gaming home for the day!

The first set of games starts at 2PM, including The Drifter’s Escape and InSpectres. Dinner break is 5, and the second set starts at 6, including Perfect Unrevised and Ghostbusters! Come for one, the other, or both!”

It’s a ton of fun, and we hope you’ll come down for it!

The Board Game of the Week this Thursday is Betrayal at House on the Hill… again. Because we’re failures (and by “we” I mean me, Sharon) and played Thunderstone last week, we’ll be doing Betrayal this week instead!

As always, Wednesday we’ve got D&D Encounters and, as always, it’s free. For those of you unfamiliar with Encounters, it’s a 4th Edition D&D game, but it’s a bit of set-up, and then a pretty sweet fight. The characters are pre-made, it takes between an hour and two, there’s little to no over-arching story to be kept track of, and it’s a great introduction to the system.

The Monday night game is proceeding excellently, and there’s still room for more players! Three dollars per person per game for a pretty much amazing 4th Edition game that doesn’t look like it’ll end any time soon.

Youth Magic League starts on Tuesday, September 13th at 3:30 and continues every Tuesday for ten weeks. Kids fifteen and under can pay $5 to get a starter deck and two boosters, they’ll have all the help and advice they desire while they modify their decks, and then they’ll play a tournament for prizes. Each week they can get another two boosters, and slowly modify their decks into something spectacular.

Congratulations Zach for winning last night’s tournament! And to everyone else who braved the heat and came out to draft, thanks for making it a fun evening.

Today we’ll have another draft starting at 5 pm for that that want to come down, we don’t know what we’ll draft yet, it depends on what y’all pick! Usually the drafts are $12, but some of the older sets will be $15 without prize support, or $18 with prizes; again, it’s up to you guys to decide!

The game of the night on Thursday will be Betrayal at House on the Hill. Come down, explore the creepy mansion, thwart the betrayer, and get %10 off the game!

In the store today we’ve got From the Vault: Legends! They contain 15 foil legendary creatures, a mythic from Innistrad, and a sweet spindown lifecounter.

Also, we’re still taking pre-orders for boxes of Innistrad for $90, so come down and reserve yours before time runs out!

Congratulations to Zach K for winning the draft! We had a great turnout last night and I hope everyone had fun; I know I did.

Today we’ve got more drafting awesome starting at 5 pm. This one’s more loosely structured; we’ll take a look at what we’ve got and ya’ll can decide what to draft. The price may vary depending on what you decide, but the first draft, at least, will always be $12.

Innistrad’s coming out in a month, and we’re taking $90 pre-orders of boxes. This deal won’t last long, though (in fact, I’m not sure of the end date right now) so buy your box while you can!

Monday night D&D is still going strong! Our players have their own D&D Insider account now, and a source book here in a week or so.

Youth Magic League starts on September 13th. For $5 a week, kids fifteen and under can get 2 boosters to modify thirty card decks (that we’ll provide), and play a tournament for prizes! We’ll provide personal assistance to everyone who requires it, and help teach deck-building skills and tournament etiquette.

D&D Encounters is starting up on the new adventure this week! Still Wednesday nights at six, and still free.

Congratulations to Derick for winning the draft!

And to everyone else who participated, thanks for coming down, and if you don’t want it to run so late, for the love of all that’s holy, don’t vote for Scars block!

Tomorrow is Magic Game Day, and to celebrate, we’re running a standard constructed, elimination tournament at 2 pm! It’s got a $5 entry fee, and pretty please arrive early so that we can get the ball rolling on time.

And if constructed isn’t your thing but you want to get your Magic on, we’re running a $12 booster draft! We’ll keep running the booster drafts every Saturday starting at 5, so if you miss tomorrow, that’s alright, we’ll keep ‘em coming!

We’re changing our hours, guys! The new hours will come into effect starting on Sunday:

Monday-Sunday: 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm

As always, we don’t kick people out until either a) midnight happens or b) they are being assholes. So don’t be a jerk and you can still hang out and play games!
